About Us
Robert Burns is an icon to all sons and daughters of Scotland and his power of persuasive spirit reaches far beyond the shores of his native land.
Viladrau in Catalunya, a spectacular and beautiful jewel located in the shadow of the majestic Montseny Natural Park was host to our 2007 event. The rustic setting of the Cerveceria de la Plaça was witness to an unparalleled spectacle when both the timbers of the auld inn and later, the entire Plaça Major resounded to the magnificent strains of the pipes and drums of the City of Barcelona Pipe Band. Tam o ’Shanter was glorious – O’er a' the ills o’ life victorious. Weel done Cutty-sark!
Thank you for visiting this site and our genuine hope and aim is that you will be sufficiently enchanted to want to learn more about the man, his life and legacy.
As you navigate the site, you will learn to appreciate the individual commitment of club members to honour Scotland’s leading literary genius. It is to all my fellow Scots in Catalunya, but above all to friends of Scotland and of Robert Burns, that I owe a debt of gratitude for making this happen.
This site is a dynamic and living document and all contributions will be considered and are welcome.
Our love of Burns’ poetry, his songs and humanist qualities are all brought together on or around the occasion of his birthday on the 25th of January. We eat well, drink well and remember the emotions, awareness and sensibilities of a universal humanitarian genius.
